When a client experiences success, I enjoy sharing their achievements with others. This year, I’ve consulted with several publishing houses to help them implement advanced book marketing tactics. One of my publishing clients recently sent me this exciting success story:
Previously, one of our authors was a bit frustrated with the way his book was initially launched two years ago. As we revisited the title during a recent meeting, we presented a new vision to reignite interest for the book using a campaign that combined email, social media, and a short e-book as a compelling freemium. Rob Eagar trained our team earlier this year on several of these marketing tactics. Our author jumped all over the ideas.
Together, we used a joint effort between our publishing house resources and the author’s large Facebook audience to drive traffic to a landing page that offered a free downloadable e-book as an enticing freemium. Our coordinated activities, including paid and free options, produced these results:
1. Between our collaborative efforts, we generated over 7,000 email sign-ups in two short weeks and counting. We can now use these email signups to continue promoting the author’s book along with our other books.
2. In addition, we put out a joint press release out that got picked up by a few media outlets. One of the responses was from a national TV network that wants to have the author on their program to discuss his book and the freemium campaign.
3. Even better, we saw direct impact on sales demand for the author’s book, which was published two years ago. For example, the ranking trends are totally different on Amazon, and Amazon just placed a larger order based on the new demand.
Our efforts will go on for a long time, so we really think it’s a new day for the book. Best of all – it’s only the beginning. All of these results happened in the first two weeks!
P.S. – We just launched another freemium campaign with a different author, sent out a press release about the free resource, and landed TWO national media hits, one radio and one TV, literally within 7 minutes!
As you can see, free content combined with effective marketing tactics can breathe new life into a book that’s brand new or even two years old. And, this applies to lots more than just books. Any author, publisher, non-profit organization, or corporation can utilize the approach.
Do you know how to create freemium campaigns that attract interest in your products and boost sales? If not, I’m happy to walk you through the process and help create your own success story.
